Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) 1. EGR System. An EGR valve is mounted on the exhaust manifold. This valve regulates exhaust gases that go into the engine. A portion of the exhaust gases is re-directed from the EGR cooler, through various pipes and routes into the intake manifold.

When the DPF warning lamp comes on (check your handbook to see exactly what the one on your diesel looks like) it’s time to take the vehicle on a longer run, preferably on a faster road such as a dual carriageway or motorway. Driving at 40mph or more for 10 minutes should prompt the DPF to go into ‘regeneration’ mode and burn off soot My experience: Single most important thing a Sprinter Owner can do is avoid interrupting DPF regenerations. Three DPF interruptions will throw a check engine light that may self-extinguish if highway operated for extended period of time, up to as much as 2 to 3 hours, interspersed with some stop and go driving, key cycles. Most cleaners will over bake and damage the filter. REASSEMBLY: The filter is re-assembled and painted; FINAL TEST: The DPF filter is flow tested a second time to ensure it was cleaned effectively and is over 99% to factory flow specs. DELIVERY: Lastly, the DPF filter and flow charts are shipped to your door and ready to install.

Detroit ® will not cover damages resulting from use of a non-authorized DPF cleaning process. DPF Maintenance Intervals for EPA 07. DPF cleaning intervals are established for each engine platform. When a specific mileage is reached, the “check engine” light illuminates, and you can replace your filter at any authorized Detroit ® service

Also the OCR only shows up when it is in park. It won't show up at 100% if you are driving. I use the OCR if the filter is at 100% and i don't have a highway trip planned that will complete a full regen. That way I don't drive it just to complete a regen and put the extra miles on it. Check if car has dpf. You can check it by running your finger around the inside of the pipe. If it is relatively clean then you can assume that your car has DPF. 2. PEF. You will find PEF (Particulate Emission Filter) only in diesel cars, so you need to keep that in your mind while trying to find if your car has a DPF. 3. Stickers
The diesel particulate filter pressure sensor measures the exhaust back pressure of the gasses entering and exiting the DPF. An exhaust pressure condition or DPF pressure sensor signal that exceeds the limitations programmed will cause the PCM to log a P2452 code and illuminate the check engine light to warn the driver that something went wrong with the pressure sensor.
60 hours X 60 minutes = 3,600 minutes. 16 regeneration minutes /3,600 = .00444 = 4/10s of 1% of engine time is consumed during parked regeneration. Fuel cost for sixteen minute parked regeneration @ 2,200 rpm ~~$1.00. Diesel Particulate Filter supersedes tractor muffler. At some point in time DPF needs to be replaced.

It’s a wall-flow filter usually made of cordierite, silicon carbide, or a ceramic monolith. As the exhaust gasses pass through the filter, it captures somewhere between 85%-100% of diesel particulate matter (DPM). The filter removes a lot of the DPM—so much so, you could place a white handkerchief over the exhaust pipe and it would stay white.
Use a DPF cleaner to reduce the temperature at which the soot combusts so that the soot will burn easily. Use a pressure gun with compressed air to remove the ash trapped in the filter. Use hot water to pressure wash the DPF. Spray the water in the direction opposite of the exhaust flow. Visit an expert.

damage you cannot see inside the diesel particulate filter (DPF) core. Please inspect the core using the visual inspection process outlined below. 1. Core must be like-for-like, and in as removed condition 2. Core that has been attempted to be cleaned in-field since removal from vehicle will not be accepted 3. Visually inspect the core housing.
